Matter
What is matter?
Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. It makes up everything around us, including objects, substances, and even the air we breathe. It is composed of tiny particles called atoms and molecules, and it can exist in different states primarily as solids, liquids and gases.
Here are the basic states of matter:
1.Solid: Matter with a fixed shape and volume. The particles are closely packed together and vibrate in place. Example: bricks
2.Liquid: Matter with
a definite volume but no fixed shape. It takes the shape of its container. The particles are close but can move past each other. Example: Water, juice
3.Gas: Matter with no fixed shape or volume. It expands to fill its container. The particles are far apart and move freely. Example: Air, water vapour
